We are looking for a Communications Specialist who can strategically identify and post engaging content for our social media feeds and other channels, which will inspire people to support our work with refugees and asylum seekers in Epirus. You are the person who thinks “this would make a good post” while activities are taking place. More than that, your interest and belief in social media as a force for good should be backed with an interest in data and analytics, using them to influence our social media communication strategy.

Your role would include:

  • Manage a Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram feed in a professional capacity
  • Create and deliver social media strategies for specific projects

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends/developments in social media communications
  • Manage and prioritise multiple tasks and be flexible
  • Deal with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

We are looking for a Grants Officer who can support us with diverse tasks that include looking for grants opportunities, project development, proposals writing, and liaising with potential partners and donors. In this role you’ll be a key contributor to the continued existence of Second Tree, which is dependent on grants to survive, and to the creation of new projects and partnerships. To do this successfully, you'll need to employ meticulous time-management and organisation skills, as juggling multiple tasks with competing deadlines is common in this role.

Your role would include:

  • Researching and identifying new grant opportunities on a weekly basis
  • Summarising relevant grant opportunities and suggesting how to best respond and comply with them
  • Researching information and data necessary for grants and grant reporting
  • Supporting the design of new projects
  • Supporting with proposal writing
  • Maintaining necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials for the Grants team
  • Working with the wider Second Tree team to ensure that all project proposals align with organisational, and programme strategies
  • Establishing and maintaining connections with funding bodies

Youth Programme Coordinator

We are looking to recruit a Youth Programme Coordinator, for a minimum commitment of 6 months, to manage our Youth Programme. The Youth Programme works with young refugees and asylum seekers in the Epirus region of Northern Greece, providing them with a sense of community and experiences that they wouldn’t otherwise receive!

In this role, you would be coordinating the daily planning and delivery of activities for young refugees in the sites in which we're operating in the Epirus region of Northern Greece.

The programme usually consists of English classes, thematic and social and emotional learning workshops and excursions. The programme engages children between the ages of 8 and 16.

For this role, you would initially work as a Youth Programme team member so that you could develop an understanding of the programme, the people involved, and the organisation as a whole.

Your role would include:

  • Coordinating, delegating, and managing a team of 2-5 volunteers in the daily operations of the Youth Programme
  • Developing the current programme in coordination with the Education Manager and Youth Programme team members
  • Assessing the impact and effectiveness of the programme in line with its objectives
  • Planning and delivering effective educational and outdoor activities, within a theme-based curriculum
  • Directly supervising and supporting team members, providing feedback to ensure the quality of the programme remains high
  • Delivering effective inductions to transfer key skills/knowledge to team members
  • Training new team members in appropriate behavioural management techniques
  • Capturing data and compiling evaluation reports on the programme

Job Overview/Summary:

Over the past years, the IRC has deployed an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O, called Integra. As deployments conclude, the team involved is transitioning structure to focus on adoption and optimization. The Senior Coordinator, ERP Adoption Europe will lead this effort for the specified region, playing a significant support role cross functionally, working within the Integra team and with the relevant Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Functional Leads to push forward immediate adoption of Integra, alignment of process towards best practice, and continuous improvement of Integra and operational processes. The Senior Coordinator, ERP Adoption Europe will focus on adoption through direct support to offices, proactive support measures, review and analysis of trends and metrics, and implementation of projects relevant to the network they are overseeing. The role is critical in furthering IRC’s efforts to go beyond the deployment of our ERP system and drive towards optimized system use to support program delivery.

The successful candidate will be a quick learner and a strong leader. They should have superb communication skills and be comfortable speaking in front of large groups, both in person and in a virtual context. They should have a customer service approach and be ready to support teams that are working through challenges. They should be comfortable with the functional and system processes that are managed through an ERP. The Senior Coordinator, ERP Adoption Europe should be capable of identifying and bringing up potential risks, comfortable with travel, and invested in the mission of the IRC.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate office and HQ stakeholders
    • Ensure the consistent implementation of support/adoption processes.
    • Participate in cross-functional delivery team meetings with peers from functional and technical teams. Represent Europe needs and manage relevant agendas, action items, and follow-ups out of that meeting.
    • Coordinate actions of all resources assigned to support Europe and collaborate with relevant team members from around the organization.
  • Responsible for adoption of ERP system for their support network:
    • Responsible for the overall adoption of the ERP tool by the specified region(s) and documentation of status and issues. This includes all facets of adoption within the offices and the work to further it (e.g. issue resolution, training, process review, new business needs),
    • Accountable for supporting solution design and implementation for releases.
    • Establish strong working relationships with leadership in office and regions.
    • Serve as the escalation point for the offices in the network of support.
    • Lead all aspects of reoccurring calls with offices and monthly calls with subject matter experts.
    • Present to senior leaders on overall adoption of network.
    • Lead or support (depending on need) trainings on key business and system processes.

Boat Refugee Foundation (BRF) is looking for an assistant who can support the MHPSS Coordinator in leading the psychosocial programme on Lesvos. Are you a psychologist, psychotherapist, psychiatric nurse or certified in (ortho)pedagogy and want to use your expertise to help people in need? Do you have at least two years of working experience, including experience working abroad? Are you also able to make independent decisions regarding mental health and available for three to six months? Please read on!

WHERE WILL YOU WORK?

Boat Refugee Foundation provides medical and psychosocial (emergency) aid and stands up for the rights of people seeking refuge. We take action where systems become inhumane and compassion is lost. Since 2015, we have been working in various locations at the borders of Europe.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The MHPSS team on Lesvos consists of experienced psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatric nurses and other mental health professionals. The focus of the MHPSS programme is on providing mental health and psychosocial support in the form of supportive conversations, education on stress management techniques and empowerment. The MHPSS Assistant provides quality psychosocial support to people on the move in the refugee camp on Lesvos, with an often-changing MHPSS team. They are a stable factor in the often rapidly changing volunteer team. In addition to working a couple of MHPSS shifts per week, the MHPSS assistant will be working closely with the MHPSS coordinator to take care of ad-hoc case management and long-term follow-up on service users, capacity building of the volunteers and administrative tasks.

YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for long-term follow-up for BRF’s MHPSS service users;
  • Provide MHPSS back-up at weekends or in the evening alternating with the MHPSS coordinator;
  • Take over tasks of the MHPSS coordinator in their absence;
  • Coordinate additional tasks of the MHPSS volunteers, in addition to MHPSS shifts;
  • Contribute to optimising the work of the MHPSS team;
  • Plan and schedule simulation training for the volunteer team.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A relevant degree (higher professional education or university degree);
  • At least 3 years of work experience in a clinical setting. Preferably including experience years relevant clinical work experience, including working with (intercultural) groups (abroad or with refugees/migrants in another context);
  • Ability to make independent decisions;
  • Willingness to take on a wide range of MHPSS and non-MHPSS responsibilities from time to time;
  • Teamwork and ability to cope well with changing working hours;
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written in English;
  • Highly flexible and stress resistant. Ability to deal with emotional and confronting situations and able to separate work from personal topics;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a broad spectrum of people;

Glocal Roots is a grassroots organization operating in Greece and Switzerland since 2019, our solution: breaking the dependency cycle by building resilience and autonomy. We build structures and networks that support displaced people to become resilient, autonomous and self-reliant again!

Since May 2022 we are running a Women’s and Kid’s space in Athens. In our Center we offer a clean, safe, and supportive community space every day. Children can enjoy their time in our child-friendly area, which is equipped with arts and craft materials as well as many toys to play with. In the designated textile maker space, we offer refugee women the opportunity to attend sewing courses, sew independently. or become part of our sewing project (for very good seamstresses). Besides that we offer different activities depending on the skills of the volunteers and the needs of the women visiting our center.

Doing your internship with Glocal Roots gives you the opportunity to combine an academic internship with gaining very practical on the ground experience in a grassroots organization working with refugees. Parts of your internship will be focused on developing your communication skills, the other part will be supporting the rest of the team through general volunteering. This means you will also do shifts in the Victoria Community Center where you register people, work with children and make everyone feel welcome in the space.

Key responsibilities of the job include:

  • Assist with social media and communication content creation

Lifting Hands International operates a community center in Serres, a small city about an hour away from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. Role Profile

The Community Engagement (CE) Manager works within the Community Program of LHI Serres. The program focuses on the engagement of Community Members in the program planning & implementation, as well as the provision of continued learning opportunities for personal and professional development.

In close collaboration with the Director of Outreach and Development and the Professional Development (PD) Manager, the CE Manager focuses on the participation of Community Members in LHI’s PSS and distribution programs and their active involvement in program planning and implementation.
The CE Manager works directly with LHI’s Community Volunteers, residents of Serres Camp, that facilitate and take part in LHI’s CFS, FFS, Arts & Rec, Education, Logistics, Distribution and Professional Development programs, while promoting a culture of mutual learning, peer support, respect and inclusivity.

We are looking for a candidate who can support volunteers in taking ownership in our programmes and empower them to plan, organize and implement their own activities, next to collaborating with the Professional Development Manager in facilitating skill-building sessions to enable a space for continuous learning and personal development.

Main Responsibilities

  • Recruiting and inducting Community Volunteers and supporting their transition into the program.
  • Support Community Volunteers in taking ownership in LHI programs and to develop, plan & facilitate activities;
  • Develop Program Induction, Onboarding Process & Documents
  • Organize monthly Community meetings as well as wellness and team building activities with both visiting and community volunteers.
  • Work closely with the other program managers to foster a community-led approach as well as monitor both the participation and well-being of community volunteers.
  • Conduct individual check-ins and group meetings for Community Volunteers to gather feedback and provide support as well as handling and safeguarding concerns in a tactful and supportive manner.
  • Ensure Monitoring and Evaluation of quantitative and qualitative program results, including development of data collection and monitoring tools;
  • Oversee the overall development while following the vision plan of LHI and adjusting structures to current situational needs and requests;

Essential Criteria

  • Proactive: Able to work well independently and without constant supervision
  • Previous experience facilitating PSS activities and/or support community lead activities
  • Previous experience working with refugees, forcibly displaced persons, or at-risk youth
  • Previous experience of people management
  • Professional attitude, able to remain calm under pressure
  • Able to work well in a large, multicultural team
  • Minimum six month commitment
  • Fluent English speaker

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of Greek / Arabic / Kurmanji / Farsi / French
  • Experience handling safeguarding or sensitive issues

The general volunteer is a highly versatile and vital position for charities to continue providing their services and supporting refugees. Depending on the activities of the organisation you’ll join, and their current needs, you may participate in the running of a warehouse by sorting and organising clothes donations, managing distributions, and coordinating delivery. Alternatively, you may be asked to assist the charity by gathering donated items, organizing them, greeting the people coming to receive aid, and distributing clothing, food, and other essential supplies. Additionally, there is a chance to participate as a volunteer in the provision of psychosocial assistance through workshops.

For this position, it is necessary to have a minimum availability of 2 weeks.

Support and Collaboration:

You won't be alone in this experience. You will receive support from the Volunteer Coordinator and the Field Coordinator of the hosting charity; as well as the support from the Indigo team by getting access to training and wellbeing support. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow volunteers, fostering a supportive and compassionate environment.

Accommodation is not given free of charge to general volunteers; however, it may be partially funded based on the duration of their stay.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

Human resources:

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Sudan Project Manager, the Project Coordinator, Sudan supports all administrative, logistical, and reporting functions for the Sudan US funded project. The Project Coordinator is responsible for carrying out day-to-day oversight duties, including ongoing communication and coordination with project beneficiaries, supporting high-quality and on time delivery of project activities, supporting all contracting and recruiting for the project, and ensuring continuous coordination with other Internews departments such as M&E, Finance, GTH. The Project Coordinator is also expected to escalate issues as needed. The project coordinator will work closely with Sudan technical advisor who will guide the implementation of activities and provide contextual knowledge. The Project Coordinator will also work in close coordination with Internews teams based in Washington DC and Arcata, CA, and Internews’ regional staff. These teams provide high-level technical advice, ensure compliance with Internews and donor policies and regulations, and offer back-stopping support. The Project Coordinator is a complex administrative support position requiring 4 years’ prior experience and specific technical education and familiarity with US funded projects.

Glocal Roots is a small non-profit organization with projects in Switzerland and Greece. Glocal Roots develops projects aimed at increasing and strengthening the resilience and independence of displaced people. We are seeking a new project manager for our women's and children's space in Athens.

Project Overview:

Since May 2022, we have been operating a Women's and Children's space in the Victoria Community Center in Athens. Our center provides a clean, safe, and supportive community space for approximately 1,200 women and children each month. It includes a women's space, a child-friendly area, and a textile maker space. In our community areas, we offer a variety of activities and workshops, medical appointments, and distributions for both women and children. In the designated textile maker space, we give refugee women the chance to attend sewing courses, sew independently, or become part of our Social Factory (for very skilled seamstresses). The Social Factory creates employment opportunities for multiple women through the production of our products.

The Women's and Children's Space in Athens is overseen by two project managers and is supported by one community project officer and approximately three to six external volunteers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Tailor Space Management (40%)

  • Overseeing the tailor space operations, including recruitment of staff, production planning, and scheduling.
  • Coordinating orders and payments, sourcing materials, and organizing trips to the Eleonas flea market for supplies.
  • Maintaining communication with clients and coordinating with the individual responsible for the online shop in Switzerland.
  • Innovating and developing new products for the Social Factory.
  • Expanding outreach through orders, collaboration with shops, participation in markets, and festivals.

We are looking to recruit people for our Youth Programme, for a minimum commitment of 10 weeks. The Youth Programme works with young refugees and asylum seekers in the Epirus region of Northern Greece, providing them with a sense of community and experiences that they wouldn’t otherwise receive!

There are some specific applicant requirements, however the most important is to have a strong desire to work with young refugees and have the commitment to improve the situation for them here in Greece. Second Tree works in a transparent way in a challenging and changeable situation on the field; therefore, an ability to learn quickly and be open to feedback is vital.

Your role would include:

We are looking to recruit people that are open to filling one (or more) of the following roles within our Youth Programme. Whilst these should guide applications, the roles often overlap and are interchangeable. Imagination and flexibility is encouraged when applying: let us know your suggestions on how we can use your skills!

The roles range across:

  • Children’s English Teacher: responsible for the planning and delivery of the programme’s English classes. Classes focus on low level English learning and must be fun and engaging. TEFL/equivalent experience is preferable, but not essential.
  • Excursion Lead: responsible for the planning and leading of weekend excursions, a highlight of the programme for participants! Excursions require an organised, methodical planner who is engaging and confident leading groups of children.
  • Science and/or Maths Lead: responsible for using knowledge of science and/or maths to plan creative and engaging classes within the existing curriculum.
  • Workshop Lead: responsible for facilitating workshops that can be either thematic, reinforcing the vocabulary learned in English class to make it more practical and interactive, or focused on social and emotional learning, helping students develop their self-awareness through creative and mindful activities.

No matter the role(s) filled, team members are expected to help plan, prepare and participate in various community engagement activities such as: picnics, community lunches, sporting events, etc.

We are looking for volunteers who can commit for a minimum of 10 weeks, with adaptable profiles and who have the enthusiasm and energy we need to provide support in various areas across the organisation.

In this generalist role, you will find yourself responsible for a variety of tasks, helping to ensure that both our programme activities and day-to-day operations run smoothly. Second Tree works in a transparent way, in a challenging and changeable situation in the field; therefore, an ability to learn quickly and be open to feedback is vital.

Your role would include:

The possible tasks included below are not exhaustive or rigidly defined; an exact role profile is dependent on the skill set of individual applicants. An average day might see you talking to students in a camp to tell them about a new class, or supporting the writing of a grant proposal. Tasks could loosely fall within 4 key areas:

Programmes

  • Supporting programme coordinators in maintaining the day to day running of their activities with the Youth Wellbeing or Adult Education Programmes
  • Supporting our children’s teachers or workshop facilitators in the planning or delivery of classes or excursions outside of camps
  • Communicating key messages about our programmes to our students in camps or urban areas

Admin, Finance & Logistics

  • Supporting our management team in liaising with external partners
  • Maintaining organisation-wide financial processes
  • Coordinating the arrival and housing of incoming volunteers

Fundraising

  • Supporting the planning and implementation of Second Tree’s fundraising initiatives, such as campaigns
  • Organising and maintaining regular communications with Second Tree’s donors (newsletters, thank you letters)
  • Supporting in the identification of relevant grants
  • Supporting in grant writing activities

Digital communication

  • Contributing to the written/visual content of Second Tree’s social media output
  • Developing social media strategies to expand our reach and impact
  • Producing regular reports on performance
  • Maintaining our website

You should be able to:

Medical coordinator

Under the direct management of the medical referent of the NGO, the medical coordinator organizes and ensures an efficient implementation of the medical activities and supervise all related aspects:

  • Be the focal point for all medical issues
  • Ensure smooth integration of medical volunteers
  • Ensure the management and capacity building of the medical team
  • Regular contact with other NGOs
  • Liaison with the local health centers
  • Main focal point for the pharmacy stock and orders
  • Ensure the respect of the medical procedures and propose improvement of processes
  • Ensure the regular reporting and monitoring of the project

As a key position, we ask for a minimum of 4 months commitment, ideally 6 months. The start of the mission should be by June 15th maximum.

REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory:

  • Medical Doctor or Nurse/Nurse practitioner, with at least 2 years of work experience
  • Experience working in similar environments
  • Fluency in English
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience in leading a team
  • Possibility to stay legally in Greece for a long period - please note that our NGO cannot facilitate access to a visa for this mission

Desired competences and skills:

  • Knowledge of Greek, Arabic or Farsi is a plus
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high level of personal organization and flexibility
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Proactive, hardworking and conscientious
